I work for GEICO as an Underwriting Technician for my day job. I have been with this company for over 4 years now. GEICO makes a point to spot light their associates and their talents through a recurring article on the associate's webpage. I cropped my screenshot photos to keep our competitive advantage intact because I'm a little employee.
About a month ago I got an email about this talent article from Stephanie. She then had a phone interview with me a week or so later. I submitted images, she researched my blog, and I came into work on Monday 8/28/17 to this banner:
WHOAH! My artwork was front and center as soon as you opened Internet Explorer. WHAT! My coworkers teased that I will be signing autographs all day. They are used to my passionate discussion about oil pastel stains, chalk, dogs, proper color descriptions...It was SURREAL to see my career worlds collide. I still can't get over the response.
The article gave a quick summary of my journey in art and in GEICO. It is pretty cute. I would totally do a chalk piece of GEICO's Gecko if they would sponsor me.

My email was BLOWN up all week with words of encouragement, congratulations, and inquiries. I got teary eyed several times a day. People who I may have not talked to much at all in my office approached me to talk about my work. It was pretty cool.
I tried to respond to all the inquiries. Gmail had problems loading some of my images so please visit my Custom Portrait Info page.
I NOW HAVE A WAITING LIST THROUGH JANUARY 2018!!!
I wish I had all the time in the world and could do 3-4 portraits a month instead o my 1-2. I'm chasing the dream where art becomes my main gig. This is another push towards my passion and what I felt I was meant to do-create and help others heal.
Thank you GEICO family for an awesome week.
